Athletic Achievements
Abby is a versatile and athletic player with good technical ability, speed, and range. She plays defensive midfield, center back, and has played outside back as well. She has a 4-star rating by TDS and is the #57 overall and #14 ranked defender in the country.
2021-22 Season
Abby’s ECNL team won back-to-back Texas Conference championships, were Semi-finalists in the ECNL National Playoffs, and back-to-back Dallas Cup Champions. Abby was selected to attend the 2022 ECNL National Training Camp in Portland, OR.
Starting 26 games as a freshman, Abby’s high school team won the 2022 Texas 6A State Championship. She played defensive mid, center back, and outside back. She had 3 goals, 2 assists, and 14 shots on goal. She earned 1st Team All-district and Academic All-District honors. The defensive unit allowed in only 1 goal in the playoff run and only 5 goals in district play.
She was also the lone freshman starter on her high school JV basketball team playing forward.
2020-21 Season
Abby’s ECNL team was Texas Conference Champions, Semi-finalist in the ECNL National Playoffs, Dallas Cup Champions (playing up in the U16G division), Dallas International Girls Cup Champions, Surf Cup Finalists, and Solar Premier Cup Champions (playing up in the U16G division.)
Abby also played with Solar South 06G FDL Adames where she played attacking mid in addition to her traditional positions. That team finished the year as North Texas State Cup Champions, USYS Southern Region Champions, and ultimately USYS National Champions.
Education
Abby has a grade average of 92 and is a member of National Junior Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Abby is undecided as to what degree to pursue in college, but has a strong interest in math and science.
Personal
Abby attends Whites Chapel Methodist Church in Southlake. She enjoys going to the lake and surfing behind the boat, jumping on her trampoline, playing with her dogs, Reilly and Remi, and watching movies.
Family
Abby’s parents are Jason and Shannan Mills. Shannan was a scholarship track athlete at the University of North Texas where she ran the 800m and 4x400m relay advancing to the 1999 NCAA indoor nationals in the 4x400 relay. In high school, Shannan was state champion at the 1993 Texas UIL Track & Field Championships in the 800m (2:19.0) and placed second at the 1994 State meet in the 800m (2:14.5) and 400m (57.7). Jason was a scholarship football player at the University of North Texas where he played quarterback. He was a four-year letterman (’94-’97) and a three-year starter (‘95-’97) and ranks in the top 10 for all-time passing and total offense records at UNT. Abby has two sisters—Reagan (18) who attends Texas A&M and Taylor (8).
